OCR: This argument has its root in the belief that geometric form is a defining force of nature. The governing factor is the attraction of the curve of the dewdrop to the curve of the universal sphere of water. With this force, mass overcomes surface tension. Leonardo directs this argument against, among others, Pliny the Elder's belief that the height of the seas is higher than that of the mountains, which is key to the entire theory of the circulation of water in the body of the earth.
